Fitch Ratings announces changes to the credit ratings of major Australian Banks
On February 24, 2012, following its review of the debt ratings of the four major Australian Banks, Fitch Ratings announced that, along with other major Australian Banks, Westpacs long-term senior unsecured issuer default rating was downgraded to AA- from AA. The outlook for the rating is stable. Westpacs short-term issuer default rating was affirmed at F1+. The rating action also impacted some of the Australian banks subsidiary ratings. As a result, Westpac New Zealand Limiteds rating was also lowered to AA- from AA.
