Author Explains How It is Possible to Love as Jesus Loved

By: Issuewire
Steve Langford

“This book is offered with the prayer that the followers of Jesus today will be known by their love.”

Forest Hill, Sep 22, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - TX--Both Jesus and the Apostle Paul identified love as the identifying characteristic of the followers of Jesus. But is it possible to love as Jesus loved? In his book, The Fruit of the Spirit: The Path That Leads to Loving as Jesus Loved, author Steve Langford
explores the Apostle Paul's fruit of the Spirit, showing how it is possible to love as Jesus loved.

The Fruit of the Spirit: The Path That Leads to Loving as Jesus Loved explores how the nine traits of the fruit of the Spirit are interrelated, identifying their interrelated nature as the path that leads to loving as Jesus loved. The author emphasizes that these nine traits are the product of the Spirit's work in the life of a Christ-follower. Love is the goal of the Spirit's work. Love flows out of an inner disposition of joy and peace. Five relational terms describe what love looks like in relationships: patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, and gentleness. The final trait, self-control, is the key that makes the others possible. The book identifies how anger and negativity, anxiety and fear are barriers to loving as Jesus loved. It describes how to move beyond these barriers into the Spirit-given joy and peace from which love flows.

The author earned his bachelor's degree in biblical studies from Howard Payne University and his Masters and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He has given his adult life to the pursuit and teaching of scripture in the local church with a focus on spiritual formation. He served as a pastor for fifty years before his retirement in 2019. He and his wife of fifty years, Etta, have three sons and four grandchildren. Steve is the author of three other books: Why the Bible is so Hard to Understand... and Tips to Understanding it; A God-shaped World: Exploring Jesus' Teachings about the Kingdom of God and the Implications for the Church Today; Discovering Your True Self: A Guide for the Journey.

The Fruit of the Spirit: The Path That Leads to Loving as Jesus Loved is available at Creative Books, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Book Depository, and other online book retailers. It is also available at Creative Books' physical bookstore located at 1321 Buchanan Rd., Pittsburg, CA.

It is available in Australia at Angus & Robertson and Chapters Indigo.
