Yohan Rodrigani presents his new creation, "Patria y Vida," an exclusive pendant made for Cuban singer, Randy Malcom

By: Issuewire

"Celebrity designer represents the vision of the singer, Randy Malcom, embodied in a new musical success."

Miami, Florida Mar 17, 2021 (Issuewire.com) - Cuban-American designer, Yohan Rodrigani has presented his latest jewelry piece, commissioned by singer, Randy Malcom, a member of the world-famous band, Gente de Zona. It is a pendant that pays tribute to the new single, "Patria y Vida," which translates to "Country and Life," whose production stands out for the collaboration between Cuban musicians, Gente de Zona, Yotuel Romero, Descemer Bueno, Osorbo, and El Funky. On February 17, the music video for this song that advocates for freedom in Cuba was released worldwide.

Malcom contacted Rodrigani prior to the release of the music video. He wanted Rodrigani to design a pendant that embodied his love for his native land, as well as his fervent desire to one day see a prosperous and free Cuba. The musician gave the jewelry designer carte blanche to put all his inspiration and soul into the designing and making. Rodrigani deeply appreciated the trust as he himself shares that feeling for Cuba, which led to a fantastic synergy between the artists.

It was not the first time that Randy Malcom purchased items from Rodrigani. Since 2019, he has been a Rodrigani collector. On the singer's 36th birthday, Rodrigani created for him a ring inspired by "La Gozadera," a worldwide hit by Gente de Zona.

"Patria y Vida" is a song to freedom, which pendant reflects the spirit of the homonymous theme presented by the group of Cuban artists. It adopts the figure of a coin, in which the designer carved the names of the six musicians participating in the video on one side: the duo Gente de Zona (Randy Malcom and Alexander Delgado), rapper Yotuel (a member of Orishas), the multi-faceted and award-winning Descemer Bueno, and dissident Cuban rappers Maykel Osorbo and El Funky, also members of the San Isidro Movement (MSI). On the other side, there is a carving of a Cuban coin from 1948, a collector's edition, where you can read the motto "Patria y Libertad", which translates to "Country and Liberty."

Rodrigani decided to insert the coin on the opposite side of the pendant when he learned that Malcom always carries a similar one with him to remember his family, friends, and fans who reside in Cuba. In addition, along the edge of the piece, there are 37 flawless diamonds that symbolize Malcom's age and his nostalgia for his beloved Cuba. The famous jeweler also added 6 more perfect diamonds to the bail of the pendant, representing the 6 participating musicians.
