The following communication was sent to the employees of Media General, Inc. on October 7, 2015:

Dear Team:

We recognize that there has been a considerable amount of media coverage and speculation regarding Media General.  It is important to remember that the only statements or updates you should rely on are those that come directly from Media General.

As we noted in our October 5, 2015 press release, our Board is carefully reviewing and considering the unsolicited proposal from Nexstar, received on September 28, 2015, to determine the course of action that it believes is in the best interests of the Company and its shareholders.  To this end, the Company recently retained additional financial and legal advisors to assist the Board in its evaluation of the Nexstar proposal.   The Board continues to recommend the proposed transaction with Meredith.

We are committed to keeping you updated as events progress. It remains business as usual at Media General and it is imperative for all of us at Media General to deliver on our strategic plan for the year.

As always, it is important that we speak with one voice.  As such, please forward any media or investor inquiries you may receive to Courtney Guertin at cguertin@mediageneral.com.

On behalf of the Board and management team, I want to thank you again for your continued focus and commitment to Media General.  Your hard work and dedication is the backbone of our continued success.

Sincerely,

Vince Sadusky

President and CEO
