A compelling new program from Scott H. Silverman brings clarity, compassion, and leadership to the national conversation on recovery.
SAN DIEGO, CA, November 04, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Scott H. Silverman, CNN Hero, author, and nationally recognized crisis coach, has announced the release of his first-ever podumentary feature, Building Heroes — an in-depth exploration of addiction recovery, community leadership, and the personal resilience that drives lasting change.
The project represents a natural evolution of Silverman's decades-long mission to support individuals and families in crisis. Designed as a stand-alone premiere, Building Heroes blends the intimacy of podcast storytelling with the realism of documentary film, offering a close look at how recovery truly unfolds in real life.
"This show brings together stories and voices that need to be heard," Silverman explains. "It's about the work that goes into rebuilding—day by day, person by person—and the leadership it takes to make that possible."
A bicoastal production created in New York and California, Building Heroes follows Silverman as he discusses his experiences with people on the front lines of recovery: clinicians, veterans, first responders, and families navigating the path from crisis to stability. The program candidly reflects Silverman's philosophy that progress starts with honesty.
Silverman adds: "We wanted this first episode to stand on its own. If it connects with audiences — and I believe it will — there's potential to develop it into a full series that continues the dialogue around addiction, treatment, and hope."
With over 40 years of experience in behavioral health, workforce development, and recovery advocacy, Silverman brings depth and credibility to the project. His career includes the founding of Second Chance, which has helped over 24,000 individuals rebuild their lives through employment and rehabilitation, as well as Confidential Recovery, a private outpatient program serving professionals and veterans. His newest initiative, the Veterans Navigation Center, connects service members with housing, behavioral health care, and employment support.
Silverman was named a CNN Hero for his service and is the author of three books — Tell Me No, I Dare You, The Opioid Epidemic: What You Don't Know Will Destroy Your Family and Your Life, and most recently, You're Not God - That Job Is Taken.
Building Heroes, the highly anticipated podumentary, is scheduled for release in early 2026 and will be available on Scott H. Silverman's official website.
"This project is about keeping the conversation alive," Silverman says. "If one person finds clarity or comfort from what they hear, then it's already done its job."
