Brazil’s Soybean Processing Volume Set to Break Record in 2026 2026-03-26

The Brazilian Association of Vegetable Oil Industries (Abiove) has recently updated its annual outlook for the domestic soybean processing sector, projecting that Brazil's total soybean crush will reach 61.5 million tons in 2026, an increase of 0.8% from the previous forecast. This marks a potential record high for the country's soybean processing industry.

Supported by ample crop supplies and sustained strong demand for processed products in both domestic and international markets, Brazil's soybean processing chain continues to operate at a high level. According to the latest statistics released by Abiove, soybean meal output is expected to reach 47.4 million tons in 2026, while Soybean Oil production is projected at 12.35 million tons. The steady increase in derivative output further solidifies Brazil's core position in the global supply of soybean processed goods and byproducts.

Daniel Furlan Amaral, Director of Economic and Regulatory Affairs at Abiove, noted that the industry is demonstrating mature infrastructure and operational capabilities, effectively converting record-breaking harvests into high-value-added products while supporting food supply and bioenergy production.

On the export front, Brazil continues to show strong competitiveness. Full-year soybean exports are projected to reach 111.5 million tons, while soybean meal exports are expected to total 24.6 million tons. Soybean Oil exports are forecast to reach 1.5 million tons, representing a 3.4% increase from the previous year. Recent operational data also supports the sector's growth momentum: on an adjusted basis, Brazil's soybean processing volume reached 3.689 million tons in January 2026, an 8.9% year-on-year increase.

Industry analysts believe that with rising processing capacity utilization and sustained global demand for protein and vegetable oils, Brazil's soybean industry chain is accelerating its transition from raw material supplier to value-added processor.
