Dr. Vaidya's journey began in India, where he received a bachelor's degree in engineering from Walchand Institute of Technology (WIT) in Solapur, India, in 1996. Continuing his education, he earned a master's degree in civil engineering from Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) in Mumbai, India, in 1999.

After immigrating to the United States, Dr. Vaidya earned a master's degree in environmental engineering from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, also known as Virginia Tech, in Blacksburg, Virginia, in 2001. Then, in 2007, he earned a doctorate in environmental engineering from the University of Central Florida in Orlando.

A Notable Career in Environmental Engineering

Dr. Vaidya is a board-certified environmental engineer and is a licensed Professional Engineer in multiple states and has worked in over half of the US states. He oversees the nationwide practice for technical due diligence and risk management in water infrastructure projects within the civil vertical at PCL. He also serves as a national client-service representative for multiple water and water reuse.

Dr. Vaidya works diligently to empower his clients to reach their goals. He has worked in both private and public sector infrastructure projects, developed high value partnerships where he has consistently delivered successful projects for drinking water, municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment, conveyance and reuse. Some of his current projects are high-impact initiatives that pose several challenges. They involve critical environmental concerns, such as improving the health of rivers or watersheds within the U.S. while providing water for municipal and/or industrial consumption. The projects are also contractually challenging due to multiple stakeholders, from alternative project delivery projects to more open-ended public scrutiny.

Over the course of his 24-year career, Dr. Vaidya has led technical projects that focus on water and environmental engineering solutions from planning, permitting, and construction through short-term operation of facilities. Another aspect of his work is implementing innovative technology that increases efficiency and results in positive project outcomes, as well as offering advantages to multiple stakeholders, such as digitizing the footprint of water which aids in tracking status of watersheds, consumptive use, water quality, customer billings and service and overall visibility into the breadth and depth of carbon footprint and infrastructure asset health and needs. His experience encompasses water treatment and conveyance, water resource management, wastewater treatment and solid waste facility management. He applies his knowledge to projects that can have life-altering effects for some communities.

"I am helping conduct research to optimize treatment technologies and some charitable work to develop low-cost treatment systems for developing countries," Dr. Vaidya says.
