Joy commented, “If you’re considering buying a home in Colorado, you’ll likely need a mortgage. But before you start the process, it’s important to understand the difference between being pre-approved and pre-qualified for a loan.”

Pre-approval means that a lender has reviewed financial information and is willing to provide a loan up to a certain amount. This gives a clear idea of how much money can be borrowed, making the homebuying process easier and more streamlined.

Pre-qualification, on the other hand, means that some basic information has been provided to a lender, who then gives an estimate of how much money could potentially be borrowed. This is not as formal as pre-approval and doesn’t guarantee the loan will be approved.

Alyssa continued, “if you’re serious about buying a home in Colorado, it’s best to get pre-approved for a mortgage loan as soon as possible. Don’t wait until you “think” you’re ready; getting in touch with a lender far in advance is the best move you can make! A professional will analyze your information and assist you in setting realistic goals for the buying process. Once you start working with your realtor, you with have the peace of mind of knowing how much money you have to work with, and it will make the homebuying process go more smoothly.”
