Since its founding in 2006, the Corvias Foundation has supported more than 500 military-connected families with more than $20 million in scholarship awards.

This year’s recipients exemplify academic excellence, leadership, and engagement in their school communities. Each scholar is poised to excel in higher education, and the Foundation’s support is designed to help make their journey financially achievable.

“We are proud to celebrate this year’s scholars,” said Julie Allen, Executive Director of the Corvias Foundation. “These students are exceptional in every sense – intellectually, personally, and in their communities. Our scholarship program reflects Corvias’ commitment to being a great place to work by investing in the future of our team members’ families.”

“Described as a ‘once in a career’ student by teachers, Malina is well rounded with participation in student council, peer tutoring, National Honor Society, and volunteering. Plus, she has won awards in subjects as varied as theater and forensics,” said Allen.

“Ciara is invested in her school community,” said Allen. “From participation in Students Against Violence Everywhere to peer support clubs, Ciara already demonstrates carrying through on her desire to give back to others.”

Melissa Schurr

Graduate: Doniphan West High School (Highland, Kansas)

College Plans: Mechanical Engineering at Kansas State University

“Melissa is an adaptable, strong student. Despite moving mid-year, she earned 36 college credits, participated in National Honor Society, and competed in basketball and track,” said Allen. “Melissa flourished after the move and brought joy to her new school.”

Sylvester Jackson

Graduate: Junction City High School (Junction City, Kansas)

College Plans: IT, with emphasis in Cyber Security, at University of St. Mary

“Sylvester complements strong academics with volunteering and basketball,” said Allen. “A staff member at the University of St. Mary recommended Sylvester for this scholarship, championing his character, work ethic, leadership potential on campus, and probability for success.”

A Strategic Approach to Scholarship Awards

The Foundation focuses on providing an above average award size by focusing on a smaller cohort. Applicants were evaluated through a blind review process that balances academic performance and financial need. The approach not only strengthens the quality of the awards but also broadens the benefit to Corvias employees, part of a broader strategy to invest in students’ futures.

Giving Back

The scholarship program honors Corvias’ core principles: to deliver the highest level of customer service; to generously give back to the community; and to make Corvias the best place to work. Other employee giving-back opportunities include volunteering, tuition reimbursement, a two-for-one donation match program, opportunities for professional growth, and a benefits package that is generous and flexible enough to meet employees where they are today and tomorrow.
