By: Get News

Dr. Elizabeth Xu was honored among Forbes China's top 100 most influential Chinese for her remarkable contributions to establishing an affordable university in Silicon Valley – California Science and Technology University (cstu.edu), with a focus on teaching cutting-edge technology and facilitating students in securing internships and jobs. As a seasoned software executive who commenced her career at IBM, specializing in content management, rights management, cybersecurity, and cryptology technology, IT, and management software, Dr. Xu served as the CTO at BMC Software (with a revenue of $2.3 billion) and as the Group CTO at CP Group (with a revenue of $85 billion). Recognized as one of Silicon Valley's most influential women, she founded an affordable university, CSTU. Why?

Her passion and devotion to research and development, along with helping people reach their fullest potential, were evident in her over a decade of R&D experience. Dr. Xu emerged as a trailblazer in machine learning, constructing models for predicting Solar Wind, Acid Rain, and Fog using satellite images, radar, and other observational data. After receiving her Ph.D., she enjoyed a stellar career in the software industry, overseeing multiple global teams comprising thousands of software engineers. Her exposure underscored the significance of talent.

While teaching at Stanford University in parallel to her software executive career, she nurtured a vision of establishing an affordable university that imparts practical skills directly applicable in the workplace. Collaborating with fellow technology executives, she co-founded the California Science and Technology University, leveraging her extensive teaching, research, industry experience, and connections to create an affordable, technology-centric institution with a focus on employment.

CSTU.edu is now fully accredited, offering bachelor's and master's degree programs in computer science and management. Approved by the California EDD, CSTU aids individuals transitioning to digital careers post-layoff. Additionally, the Veteran Administration approves CSTU to assist veterans transitioning to civilian jobs, enabling them to utilize Post-9/11 GI Bill Ch33 and receive $27,000 in annual tuition and $4,300 in housing benefits when studying at CSTU, covering tuition and living expenses in full.

Given the practical and timely nature of CSTU's training programs, encompassing areas such as ChatGPT promotions and agencies, LLM, and Data Science, its faculty predominantly consists of working professionals in critical roles at major companies and graduates from top universities. Consequently, CSTU students readily secure opportunities with Silicon Valley startups and leading technology firms.

CSTU also holds the authority to issue I-20 forms and admit F1 students. F1 students benefit from one year of Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and three years of Optional Practical Training (OPT), allowing them to legally work at U.S. companies, aligning with their major. CSTU students play a vital role in providing well-trained talent to Silicon Valley startups.

Elizabeth expressed her excitement, stating, "We are thrilled to train and assist students aspiring to excel in the upcoming AI era. Students pay only a fraction of the tuition compared to attending Stanford, yet they can immerse themselves in Silicon Valley's technology, attend meetups at tech giants such as Google, Microsoft, and Amazon, and engage in innovative projects with startup companies. We help them achieve their dreams, and in turn, they contribute to our vision of establishing an affordable university dedicated to student success in the digital age."
