Companion to the Poor, authored by Viv Grigg, tells the powerful story of a young man who chose to live among the urban poor in the slum of Tatalon, Manila. It highlights the courage, struggles, and ultimate transformation of a community in one of the world’s difficult places.
In a world where poverty, sickness, and rejection are everyday realities, this book shares the author’s determination to create a new kind of community—one built on faith, hope, and love. It is a testament to resilience, showing how a small group of people rooted in Christ’s love can bring lasting change in the most difficult circumstances.
A Global Movement Born from Struggle
Companion to the Poor is more than a book—it became a global movement. Its message has reached thousands worldwide, translated into six languages, and inspired many hundreds of workers to serve in the slums of mega-cities across the globe. It has shaped lives seeking genuine spirituality and continues to influence communities of faith, justice, and economic transformation.
An Invitation to Change Lives
Companion to the Poor is more than just a story—it is a call to action.
