Journey with Amy Yip Coaching

Learning about Amy:

In a recent episode of Women in Motion, sponsored by WBEC-West, Amy Yip, the Founder of Amy Yip Coaching, shared her inspiring journey of self-discovery and empowerment. As a Somatic Life Transformation Founder and Mental Fitness Coach, Amy discussed her mission to empower women and underrepresented groups to strengthen their mental fitness and pursue their dreams with unwavering courage and authenticity.

Amy’s Background and Early Career:

Amy’s story begins in the fast-paced world of corporate America, where she spent 16 years leading global teams at renowned companies like Google, Clorox, and Booz Allen. Despite achieving professional success, Amy felt a lingering sense of unfulfillment, that prompted her to explore her true purpose beyond the confines of her corporate role.

The Turning Point:

The pivotal moment in Amy’s journey came when she and her husband faced a heartbreaking setback on their quest to start a family. After undergoing fertility treatments and having their embryos stored, they received devastating news that the viability of their embryos was uncertain due to a facility mishap. This profound loss forced Amy to confront the existential question of her life’s purpose; igniting a transformative journey of self-discovery.

Embarking on a Self-Help Journey:

Fueled by a desire for clarity and direction, Amy embarked on a self-help journey, voraciously consuming books and seeking solace in the wisdom of others. However, despite her intellectual pursuits, Amy found herself grappling with profound questions about her identity, purpose, and desires, with no clear answers in sight.

Exploration and Ayahuasca Experience:

Seeking deeper insights, Amy embarked on a transformative journey to Peru, where she participated in a five-day ayahuasca ceremony. This immersive experience exposed Amy to the power of vulnerability and the importance of seeking help from others. While the ayahuasca ceremony provided profound insights, Amy still found herself wrestling with the fundamental question that plagued her: Should she settle down and start a family, or should she pursue her dreams of travel and self-discovery? Determined to pursue her dreams of travel and exploration, Amy and her husband embarked on a life-changing journey to Ghana in January 2020. Their initial plan was to volunteer at a breast cancer nonprofit and then travel the world. However, fate had other plans in store for them.

Unexpected Challenges and Opportunities:

Just as Amy and her husband were settling into their new life in Ghana, the global COVID-19 pandemic swept across the world, bringing their travel plans to a screeching halt. Stuck in Ghana for seven months due to travel restrictions, Amy found herself facing unforeseen challenges and unexpected opportunities for growth. Despite the uncertainty caused by the pandemic, Amy seized the opportunity to focus on building her coaching practice and business. With a newfound sense of purpose and determination, Amy began offering coaching services to individuals and organizations, empowering them to navigate life’s uncertainties with resilience and courage.

Upon returning to the United States, Amy’s journey took an unexpected turn when a colleague introduced her to the world of coaching. Intrigued by the prospect of working with a coach to navigate life’s uncertainties, Amy took a leap of faith and embarked on a transformative coaching journey that would forever alter the trajectory of her life.

Expanding Impact:

Driven by a deep commitment to inclusivity and empowerment, Amy extends her coaching services to organizations, offering workshops and training programs designed to accelerate the advancement of underrepresented groups in leadership roles. Through her work, Amy strives to create a more equitable and inclusive world where everyone can fulfill their potential and thrive.
