Oil-Dri Powders Plant Internal Auditor Training

In April, Ten students attended an internal auditor training at the Oil-Dri Georgia Powders Plant. Students were mostly employees of the Thomasville facility with additions from the Ilinois plant and from a supplier who is located in Mississippi.

PRLog - Jun 06, 2013 - THOMASVILLE, Ga. -- In April, Oil-Dri Georgia, Powders Plant, of Ochlocknee recently sponsored a three day, Internal Auditor Training course.  Ten students attended the course.   Six students were employees from the Ochlocknee facility.  Three were from a sister facility in Illinois and one was a supplier from Mississippi.  The course was designed to prepare students to perform internal audits.  Organizations conforming to international standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001, are required to use trained internal auditors.  Internal auditors verify the organization is conforming to the requirements of the standard and verify if the organization is conforming to its planned arrangements.  Planned arrangements are the methods designed by management to ensure the processes of the organization are sustainable and continually improving.  Planned arrangements should result in product that consistently meets customer requirements.  

The focus of the class was the International Standard, ISO 9001 and its requirements.  Students learned the requirements of the standard.  The methods for how to perform the audits was based on ISO 19011 which are the international guidelines for auditing and auditing practices.  Students learned how to plan  audits, conduct audits, and write audit reports.  A 360 review was used to measure the performance of the students.   The learning, was hands-on, learning by doing.  

After training, Internal Auditors were assigned processes and performed audits to determine if the processes were conforming to planned arrangements of the organization.  Audits were conducted on actual processes within the Powders Plant.

The course material followed the requirements for Internal Auditors that are published by RABQSA.   RABQSA is the American and Australian organization of training and personnel certifications.  The reviews of the course by the students showed the class was a great success.  This was the second internal auditor course that has been been conducted at the Powders Plant.

The facility received certification to ISO 9001 and FAMIQ in 2011.
