Voa Texas Named as a 2021-2022 Grant Award Recipient by the Mavs Foundation

DALLAS - November 9, 2021 - (Newswire.com)

Volunteers of America (VOA) Texas is one of 25 organizations to receive a total of $1 million combined from the Mavs Foundation. The announcement comes on the heels of the start of the Dallas Mavericks' new basketball season as the organization works to continue the long history of community support.

VOA Texas will use the award to revamp the computer lab inside of its residential re-entry center in Fort Worth, TX.

"Each year we help more than 400 former offenders transition back into the community from prison at our residential re-entry center in Fort Worth. The computer lab is an essential part in the reintegration of our clients as they build their resumes, search and apply for employment," said VOA Texas President and CEO Angela King. "We are excited about our partnership with the Mavs Foundation and their commitment to helping our community's vulnerable population."

"We are thrilled to announce our commitment of $1 million for the first time ever," said Mavs Foundation President Katie Edwards. "The need is greater than ever across the North Texas community and we are grateful for the opportunity to support local nonprofits doing such critical work."

Mavs Foundation will allocate over $1 million dollars to empower local children, women and families in need during the 2021-2022 season. The funding will include grants, special projects and emergency aid - from building basketball courts and reading and learning centers, to meal delivery for homebound seniors, to healthcare for uninsured children, and continued support for those struggling during the pandemic.
