“Please don’t have bad perception about Xinjiang based on what you learned from the media,” said a Bangladeshi journalist who has gained “hands-on” experiences in a June visit to the Chinese autonomous region which he calls “a wonderful land full of surprises.”
The journalist denounced negative news coverage on Xinjiang, and invited people to visit the place and see the reason for themselves.
The journalist Md Enamul Hassan, out of the curiosity to know a real China, moved to Beijing in 2019, saying he was suspicious about the negative portrayals of Xinjiang in the global press.
He said that Xinjiang has surprised him very much, from its natural beauty to its delicious dishes, and from its diverse ethnic cultures to its hospitable people. “Wherever I have been too, the smiling people welcomed me with their warm and open hearts,” he said.
Xinjiang’s rapid social and economic development surprised the Bangladeshi, too. He shared what he has seen in Narat, a township in the autonomous region’s Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, where targeted measures and criteria have been tailored for poverty alleviation in local communities. He said the thriving local economy and the improved livelihood are a “beauty of poverty eradication of China.”
“Please just come to Xinjiang and see the real Xinjiang for yourself. I think it will never let you down”, Hassan said.
