Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies Named a 2021 Grant Awardee of The Freeport-McMoRan Foundation

The nonprofit, private, post-secondary institution was recently awarded the 2021 Native American Partnership Fund and Native American Community Activities and Contributions Grants by Freeport-McMoRan's Native American Affairs Program

PHOENIX - Dec. 1, 2021 - PRLog -- Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies (CGI) was recently awarded the 2021 Native American Partnership Fund and Native American Community Activities and Contributions Grants by Freeport-McMoRan's Native American Affairs Program. The funded project is in partnership with the San Carlos Apache Wellness Center, of San Carlos, Arizona.  Through the collaborative project, Cummings Graduate Institute and the San Carlos Apache Wellness Center will provide increased workforce training for mental health providers and crisis intervention specialists within the San Carlos Apache Tribe and implement a strategic digital outreach plan to disseminate information and resources on mental health topics across the San Carlos Apache community.

"CGI is pleased to receive this grant award and deliver a culturally targeted behavioral health workforce training program for healthcare workers and mental health outreach to the San Carlos Apache Tribe," said Dr. Cara English, DBH, Chief Executive Officer at CGI.

At Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies, we are seeing firsthand the urgent need to have a trained behavioral health workforce to meet the increased mental health demand following the pandemic. We believe training and outreach efforts will have a significant impact on the mental wellness of the San Carlos Apache Tribe community.
