Plano, Texas - Last few week's high winds tragically brought down one of the older trees in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. A beautiful sycamore of over one hundred years that lived to see the growth of several small businesses around it. However, its downfall also led to a serious situation for one of those businesses.

The owner of that business commented, “The true tragedy is losing that sycamore. Everyone dearly loved it, and we’re planning on having a memorial service and everything. But it did put us in quite a bind for a while because when it came down it took some of my roof with it. No one was hurt, but it wasn’t safe to be in the store. Which, we were about to have one of our most important sales of the whole year for the holidays. It would have been financially devastating to have to postpone or cancel.”

The tree was a popular spot for picnics, and so the service featured a very large ‘one last picnic.’ The highlight and close of the memorial was the planting of a sycamore sapling, which everyone in the tight-knit community promised the old tree they would watch over.
