Helping Teens Get Through Mother’s Day When Mom is No Longer With Them

By: Get News
Helping Teens Get Through Mother's Day When Mom is No Longer With Them“I think that timing has a lot to do with the book’s positive response, as Heaven’s Bell addresses bereavement and loss, with powerful lessons that I think families everywhere can benefit from now. There are also some “COVID-related” elements woven into the story, including a “remote goodbye” from a hospital,” stated author Sherrie Barch.Sherrie Barch’s book Heaven’s Bell offers comfort and a way to share memories.

Grief is not usually a big topic for children, however with the pandemic over 200,000 children have lost parents due to Covid – and unfortunately, more of those children are minorities and people of color.

It isn’t easy for parents or caregivers to help the children with their grief, as they too may be grieving. They also may not have the skills or an idea how to help their children. According to the Pew Charitable Trust – “Kids Who Lost Parents to COVID Deserve Help, Advocates Say”.

Holidays can be especially hard times when we miss loved ones, and upcoming Mother’s and Father’s day will be hard for these children. Sherrie Barch, author of Heaven’s Bell, has created a book that can be a helpful resource for teens dealing with loss.

The book, written for teens but enjoyed by people of all ages, offers a way for people to talk about death, grief and has a special way to share memories and keep them alive.

It is the story of two teenage best friends. They have a special friendship and are inseparable until one of them becomes ill. Then Ashley has to confront what her life would be like without Cody.

Here are some of the Amazon Reviewers’ Comments: “It’s a Comforting Hug in a Book” | “A comforting story for all ages!” | “Gives you the language you need…” | “Uplifting”

Withth Mother’s Day and Father’s Day around the corner, the holiday will be challenging for many children. Heaven’s Bell can make it a bit less so.
