GYMITM Announces Shop For Good Fundraising Partnership with IAPMD for PMD Awareness Month 2022

By: PRLog

The Shop For Good partnership aims to raise money, visibility, and awareness for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) and Premenstrual Exacerbation (PME). The April 2022 Premenstrual Disorders (PMD) Awareness Month theme is Connect The Dots.

CARMEL, Ind. - April 6, 2022 - PRLog -- Get Your Message In The Media (GYMITM), an online program that teaches small business owners with established health, wellness, and fitness businesses how to land and leverage media coverage to grow their business as Shop For Good partner with the International Association of Premenstrual Disorders (IAPMD), will donate 10% of program sales and help raise awareness of premenstrual disorders during April for PMD Awareness Month.

"We started our Shop for Good program to partner with members of our community and small businesses who want to support our mission. Many members of our community own shops or small businesses and want to help raise awareness and support for premenstrual disorders through their respective work. The IAPMD would not exist without our community's generosity. We are grateful to offer this program that supports us and our community," said Brett Buchert, Director of Impact at IAPMD.

"The IAPMD website and online community have been an invaluable resource to me as I've navigated learning to manage and accept living with PMDD.  I'm excited to be a Shop for Good partner to give back and help raise awareness for PMDD and IAPMD," said Morgan Sheets, Media and Marketing Consultant and Creator of GYMITM.

According to the Chamber of Commerce website, only 80 percent of small businesses survive their first year, 70 percent their second year, and only 50 percent are still in business by year five.

"My biggest challenge as a business owner has been figuring out how to operate and market my business while experiencing increasingly debilitating episodes where my brain and body do not function due to PMDD and other health challenges. Being a business owner is challenging; being in business while navigating chronic illness is exponentially more so. My biggest personal challenge has been finding quality healthcare providers to help me identify, treat, and manage my conditions," said Sheets.

"I created GYMITM to solve both problems. I figured if I could use my marketing and media experience to help health and wellness practitioners land media coverage to reach the people who need their expertise, products, and services that I could help businesses succeed and help patients like me have an easier time finding resources and service providers," said Sheets.

"We were very excited to partner with Morgan through her 'Get Your Message in the Media' course because we know it will be an asset to our community members who run small businesses. It's amazing to create a network of businesses doing good and all passionate about raising awareness of premenstrual disorders so we can support each other," said Buchert.

PMDD is not a hormone imbalance but a severe neurobiological reaction to estrogen and progesterone's natural rise and fall.  PME refers to the premenstrual exacerbation of physical and mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. Symptoms typically occur the week or two before menstruation in the luteal phase and subside after bleeding begins. The IAPMD's Global Survey of PMDs 2018 showed that 30% of individuals experiencing the condition had made a suicide attempt during a PMDD episode. It takes sufferers twelve years and six healthcare providers to receive an accurate diagnosis on average.
