RPH Management, a Toronto based investment house, have announced their next charitable project. The company has in the past donated to a number of causes and has confirmed that their contributions will only grow as the company expands its portfolio of clients.
On Monday, RPH Management’s founder and CEO David Warren announced that the company will be donating 5.7 million Canadian Dollars (circa 4.5 million U.S. Dollars at the time of writing) over a period of two years, towards the creation of a scholarship program with the aim of enabling North American young adults from financially challenged backgrounds to attend Canadian universities, specifically focusing on courses relating to the financial sector. A small number of courses in the STEM sectors will also be considered.
The scholarship will aim to provide both partial and full funding dependant upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, high school academic records, extracurricular activities, parental status, ethnic background and intended career path.
Mr. Warren confirmed that the project will see its first successful applicants starting their courses in September 2024, eventually finding employment or internships within RPH Management or its partners abroad upon earning their degrees, should the applicant so choose.
Mr. Warren said “It is staggering in ostensibly wealthy and civilized countries, that there are hard working and intelligent young people that are unable to make their mark and offer something for our increasingly global society based on the fact that they cannot afford a university education. As persons of a certain financial means, it would be irresponsible of us to ignore this. If the programme is successful, we will look to expand its scope after 2030.” Further details are still pending, though a representative of RPH Management has stated that more information will be available before the end of 2022.
