DSD Renewables and Caesars Entertainment broke ground on an 8.4 MW solar portfolio across three Caesars properties in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The project includes two solar canopies (1.7 MW and 886 kW) at Caesars Atlantic City, two canopies (1.93 MW and 1.94 MW) and a 913 kW rooftop system at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City, and a 1.01 MW canopy at the Tropicana Atlantic City. The canopies are expected to hekp reduce snow removal costs and provide shaded parking, while the rooftop systems limit UV exposure to the roof, helping extend its lifespan and reduce cooling needs.
Projected to be complete in late 2022, the installations are expected to generate 10,425,453 kWh of renewable energy annually for the host sites.
In addition to developing and financing the installations, DSD said it would serve as long-term owner and operator of the systems. DSD and Caesars Entertainment said they also are exploring other solar projects at other Caesars sites in California, Illinois, Maryland, and Nevada.
