Get an International Driving Permit in Just 2 Hours Through the International Drivers Association

By: Get News
An International Driving Permit is essential for those who plan to drive or rent a car while overseas.

Most foreign countries require travelers planning to drive or rent a vehicle to obtain an International Driving Permit (IDP) that shows they hold a valid driver’s license in their home country. The International Drivers Association simplifies the process and can issue an IDP in as little as two hours.

An IDP translates one’s driver’s license into the language of the country they plan to visit. It is regulated by the United Nations and designed to be easy for both English and non-English speakers to read and understand. However, an IDP is not an official form of identification and cannot be used as a replacement for a valid driver’s license. Therefore, drivers should carry their IDP, driver’s license, and passport at all times, especially when operating a vehicle.

IDPs are accepted in more than 150 countries around the world. They contain a person’s name, photo, and driver information in the 12 most widely spoken languages worldwide. Travelers can take a quick three-question quiz to determine whether an IDP is needed in their destination country, or they can search this list of countries.

Based in Portugal, the International Drivers Association processes IDP applications from more than 165 countries worldwide. It has developed a quick and efficient system for requesting and gaining an IDP that takes only minutes.

Applying for an IDP

To apply for an IDP, travelers must submit a valid copy of the front and back of their driver’s license for verification. In addition, they will need to upload a passport-style photo and their signature. Once these materials are submitted and the application fee of $49 has been paid, the International Drivers Association will process the application.

A digital IDP booklet will be delivered by email in about two hours and includes the validity period, the list of countries that accept IDPs, a list of vehicles the person can drive, and driver’s license information. The International Drivers Association IDP is valid for up to three years.

A printed IDP will be delivered in two to 30 working days, depending on the delivery method selected. This includes the 16-page IDP booklet and a complimentary ID card. Some countries, such as the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, do not accept the digital IDP, so travelers to those countries should plan accordingly.

Use International Driving Guides to Prep for Travel

The International Drivers Association also compiles comprehensive driving guides for more than 180 countries. These include driving rules, road etiquette, and top destinations for each country.

In each guide, travelers will find general information about geography, land, history, government, spoken language, and more. In addition, there are frequently asked IDP questions about each country and intel about renting a car there. A detailed list of road rules, driving conditions, and driving etiquette, including what to do in case of a vehicle breakdown or accident, are also included.

Finally, each guide contains a list of top destinations in each country, driving directions, and some suggested activities.

Conclusion

The International Drivers Association aims to make it easier and safer for travelers to drive or rent vehicles in foreign countries. A digital International Drivers Permit can be approved and delivered in just two hours.
