The latest announcement from Ecco Bella – developer of a range of vegan-friendly, plant-based beauty products and consumables – underlines the company’s environmental credentials, its commitment to sustainability, and the preservation of native species. The garden’s inclusion in the Homegrown map reflects the significant contribution it is making to the fight against climate change.

Ecco Bella’s statement reveals how the pollinator garden originated in 2017 with some 3000 seedlings and 100 varieties of plants. The project has grown to such an extent that the garden produces an excess of native shrubs, flowers, and native plants which are auctioned off to local residents in support of the environmental group ‘Our Green West Orange’.

The Homegrown National Park aims to create a new ecological network via partnerships with companies such as Ecco Bella to help mitigate the effects of climate change. The organization is, according to its website, a grassroots call to action to restore biodiversity and ecosystem function through the seeding and nurturing of native species and the removal of invasive plants.

The Ecco Bella garden now produces a rich bed of pollinator plants such as milkweed, rattlesnake master, great blue lobelia, and golden rod. These species attract bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and moths which in turn contribute to the welfare of the local ecosystem. Many of these pollinator insects have been adversely affected by the chemicals used in modern farming and horticulture as well as the spread of non-native invasive plants and grasses.

The garden is tended by students who, under the tutelage of Ecco Bella founder Sally Malanga, get to experience the growth and evolution of the habitat, learning vital planting and weeding skills throughout the year.

About Ecco Bella

Ecco Bella is a division of New Earth Beauty Inc. – a health and wellness company that develops and produces vegan skincare products. CEO Sally Malanga is also responsible for health food brands Boon Broth and Nutrachic. The pollinator garden reflects her passion for environmental causes and commitment to developing ethically-produced cosmetics and healthy foods.

A spokesperson says, “Ecco Bella was started out of protest against testing on animals in the production of cosmetics, and its mission has expanded to the creation of products from the universe of organics and nutraceuticals. This way we support organic farming, too.”
