Seagate to lay off 8% of its workforce as earnings highlight worsening industry trends

Shares of Seagate Technology Holdings PLC were falling more than 9% in premarket trading Wednesday after the maker of data-storage technologies hinted at some worsening industry trends toward the end of its latest quarter and announced that it planned to cut roughly 8% of its workforce as part of an initiative to rein in expenses.
