Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Announces 2022 Holiday Fundraising Events

Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Mississippi has announced its busy slate of Holiday fundraising and community initiatives, which start this November.

Holly Springs ,United States - November 10, 2022 /PressCable/

The very first activity to commence their charitable season of giving and community togetherness is scheduled to take place this Saturday, November 12. This pre-holiday event is a stew dinner fundraiser, where guests will be treated to a home-cooked meal of a hearty bowl of stew and cornbread muffins. Like the other events scheduled to take place in November and December, proceeds will be donated to the church, community, and the Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department.

The announcement comes on the back of a bumper year of fundraising and charity work in 2022, in which the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church donated $2500.00 to the Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department, allowing them to purchase new tires for one of their emergency firefighting vehicles.

As such, Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Pastor Dwayne Mayo, who is known to all young church-goers as “The cool pop Preacher”, is particularly proud to be doubling their holiday fundraising and community outreach initiatives this year.

The major event that the church will be holding this November is their Christmas Market, which will take place on November 26.

The event will take place in the open square in front of the church, and inside the church, depending on the weather, and the purpose of the event is to bring the community together to raise money for one of its most valuable institutions.

One of the event’s organizers, Carla Cunningham, also believes that the event offers the perfect opportunity for local artisans to show off their wares. The church is keeping vendor permits at an extremely low cost, with the full sum donated to the Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department, and vendors do not need to pre-book their space.

As Carla explained, “We’re offering vendors and crafters an alternative to some of the high booth fees they’ve been seeing in the region while also offering area residents the chance to see friends, meet new people, and buy unique gifts and baked goods for Christmas gifts and parties, or for themselves.”

For Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, their Christmas Market is just the beginning. Other events the local community in Mt. Pleasant, Holly Springs, Slayden and Northwest Mississippi are invited to participate in include their Advent Bible study series about John the Baptist, which will run for four weeks before Sunday church service, beginning on November 27.

All details of upcoming events including a Quilt Raffle and Family Movie nights, will be posted on the church’s Facebook page.

Pastor Dwayne Mayo said, “The wonderful church family that sponsors our events is a wonderful group of people who I am blessed to pastor.”
