Dallas Fort Worth Roofing Company Advises Homeowners On How To Prepare for Storm Season

Carrollton, Texas Feb 20, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - Dallas Fort Worth roofing company, SEI Roofing, is advising homeowners to make sure their roofs are ready for the upcoming storm season. With powerful storms and high winds expected, now is the time to ensure your roof is up to the task.

"With spring approaching, storms in the DFW area can bring lots of heavy rain and potentially large hail," said Marc Shilling, president of SEI Roofing. "It's imperative homeowners are prepared with a solid roof system to protect against these treacherous storms. In addition, I feel homeowners should have a good understanding of what to do if they experience damage from a storm. At SEI Roofing, we are here to educate our clients as well as provide a professional service with excellence and integrity!"

An inspection from an experienced roofing professional can reveal areas of concern and worn-out shingles that need attention. Homeowners should check for missing or damaged flashing around chimneys, walls, and vent pipes; cracked caulking around vents; and signs of moss or algae growth. If the roof is more than 20 years old, it might be time for a roof repair or roof replacement and the roof might not hold up as well as it should in a storm.

SEI Roofing recommends taking these steps to prepare roofs in advance of storm season:

Clean gutters and downspouts - Blocked gutters and downspouts prevent water from being drained away from the property properly which could lead to problems with the roof or other parts of the home's exterior.

Check inside the attic - Go into the attic or crawl space during daylight hours and look for any signs of water damage on beams or trusses due to leaks from rain or snow melting off the roof during winter months. Also, check for low points where water pools when it rains hard outside but isn't draining off properly inside due to clogged gutters.

Trim back overhanging branches - Trees with long limbs hanging over rooftops can act as natural umbrellas that direct large amounts of water onto particular spots on a roof resulting in additional wear and tear on certain areas of the roof membrane. Removing these branches will allow the roof to wear more evenly and prevent those branches from potentially falling on the roof and causing damage during a storm.

By taking proactive steps before storm season hits, homeowners can ensure their roofs will both keep them safe during severe weather events as well as protect their homes and belongings. SEI Roofing is offering free roof inspections, so homeowners don't have any unexpected surprises this storm season. Inspections can be scheduled on their roofing website or over the phone at (972) 696-7259.
