Valmont Industries, Inc., a global leader in creating vital infrastructure and advancing agricultural productivity, will host an apprenticeship signing event on Wednesday, September 20, at 9 a.m. in Jasper at 1950 Industrial Blvd. Seven new apprentices and 17 high school pre-apprentices will join Valmont’s manufacturing trade programs — an alternative career pathway for students to enter a high-demand, high-wage career field with opportunities for advancement.

Apprentices receive on-the-job practical training at Valmont paired with classroom instruction through Chattanooga State Community College, the registered apprenticeship sponsor and provider of the program’s related training instruction. In partnership with Marion County Schools and Sequatchie County Schools, pre-apprentices receive hands-on training at Valmont during the school day and have an opportunity to join the apprenticeship program or be hired by Valmont after graduation.

Launched in 2019, this program has had 37 graduates, with over a dozen working full-time at Valmont. The demand for skilled trade workers remains high across the industry. According to Go Build Tennessee, one trade apprentice is available for every five retiring trade workers, and half of the Tennessee trade workforce is expected to retire within the next 15 years. Valmont’s program contributes to the tradition of skilled trade workers by nurturing this next generation of professionals.
