In a Political Season Filled with Twists and Turns, Psychotherapist Offers Words of Wisdom

LOS ANGELES, CA - October 3, 2024 - Even those who might have preferred to avoid all the political news in recent weeks would have had a challenging time doing so. The upcoming general election has generated political situations unlike anything seen before in the United States.

And while both current presidential candidates say they are believers in God, Dr. Pieter Noomen, who served as a minister for several Protestant churches, claimed to have spoken directly with God, who gave him some food for thought about politics, among a great many other subjects.

Dr. Noomen, who was also a psychotherapist who worked in suicide prevention and hospice, died in 2019, but he left behind a vast amount of inspirational writings on his website, www.wordsforall.org. They remain free for anyone to access at any time. In one of those writings, Dr. Noomen said God spoke these words to him: "Can one human being who lives in peace and with inner harmony make a difference? For that matter, will anything change because someone does believe these words? Could living close to Me substantially contribute to improving your earthly society? Anything on earth is fractured. Are you capable to heal, or why should you bother? Do you need to be involved politically or be an activist for justice debunking phoniness? Should you fight, donate money, speak up, vote or volunteer to protest brokenness?

"Asking yourself questions like these can lead to exploring your personal motives ...I recognize only what is positive and healing. As sentient entities, humans can reflect on their choices. In this, they are like Me. Politics can be corrupt, religion divisive and science erring: what'll you stand for? What's your goal, vision, pride or intention? … By choosing to keep advancing to more peace, you invest in eternity's structure.”

In another section, Dr. Noomen quotes God — whom he said identified Him/Herself as “I AM” — with these words: “You can wonder why I do not address urgent and specific problems facing humanity. Like your ecosystem, the nuclear threat, ozone depletion, overpopulation or crime.

“Will technology or genetic findings change human nature? Will minds stay private? Well, that I speak of it now, relates to earth's accelerating technical developments. Yet, no political, environmental or any other shift changes My relationship with you.”

In one section of the Words For All website, www.wordsforall.org, Dr. Noomen asks “I AM” questions and gives the deity’s answers. One example:

Q: “Freedom has many faces: social, political, personal, etc. There is freedom 'to' and freedom 'from'. Which one is the most important?”

A: “None of the above. These lessons do not evaluate human situations. They do provide insight into life's universal dynamics. The first is that all has its origin in the nature of the One Who is the I AM of being, Whose fourth name is Proper. This covers all creating, functioning, togetherness and effectiveness. So, the question has to be rephrased. Freedom forms reality, creates it! It is not more here than it is there. There is only one type of interaction, shaping a unit, making love, making sense or making anything else, and that is the touching and bonding out of love and from free will. Operating this way expresses the nature of life's glorious total structure.”
