Belize City, Belize - Sustainable Impact Makers International (SIMI), in partnership with the Cornerstone Foundation Belize, is proud to announce an upcoming Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar to educate and empower the local community. This vital initiative seeks to increase awareness, promote early detection, and provide essential resources to help combat breast cancer, particularly among underserved women in Belize.
Breast cancer remains one of the leading health concerns for women worldwide, and early detection is critical in improving survival rates. This seminar will provide practical knowledge on self-breast examinations, early warning signs, and screening methods, helping participants make informed health decisions. With interactive workshops, panel discussions featuring medical experts and survivors, and access to critical resources, the seminar promises to be an impactful event for attendees.
“Ensuring that women have access to information and preventive care is crucial in the fight against breast cancer,” said Evelyn Botwe, President of SIMI. “By bringing this initiative to Belize, we hope to not only raise awareness but also build a lasting support system for women and their families.”
This initiative aligns with SIMI’s mission to promote health equity and sustainable community education. Since 2023, SIMI’s breast cancer awareness programs have reached over 150 women and 35 men, equipping them with essential knowledge and skills. Participants from previous workshops reported that 90% learned new information about breast cancer, while 80% expressed the need for greater awareness among younger women.
