Alexa Whiteside Launches WAM Entertainment Law, a Boutique Law Firm Focused on Protecting Creators' Vision

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA / ACCESS Newswire / April 1, 2025 / Entertainment attorney Alexa Whiteside, whose legal work spans high-profile projects like Sony's A Man Called Otto and Netflix's Race: Bubba Wallace, has announced the launch of WAM Entertainment Law, a boutique law firm dedicated to protecting the creative vision of artists, producers, and content creators in their dealmaking strategies.

With over 15 years in the entertainment industry, including her recent tenure as Vice President of Business Affairs at Hearst Media Production Group (HMPG), Whiteside brings a deep understanding of dealmaking, rights management, and content monetization. Accepting clients in North Carolina, California, and New York, WAM Entertainment Law is physically based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and provides transactional legal services across film, television, and literary publishing - helping clients navigate negotiations, secure fair agreements, and maximize revenue opportunities.

"Navigating the business side of entertainment shouldn't come at the expense of creative vision and integrity," said Alexa Whiteside. "WAM Entertainment Law is built on a content-first approach - helping creators protect their work, secure fair deals, and bring their stories to audiences while navigating the industry's complex business and financial landscape."

Whiteside's career began in production - working as an independent producer, unit production manager, and casting associate in New York before earning her law degree magna cum laude from Southwestern Law School.

In 2017, she joined the Beverly Hills entertainment law firm Ramo Law PC, where she provided comprehensive legal services to producers, distributors, and content creators across film, television, and digital content. During her time in private practice, she advised on matters ranging from production legal and financing agreements to distribution deals, helping clients such as Hartbeat, Monarch Media, and JuVee Productions successfully navigate the entertainment industry's legal and business framework.

Her most recent role at HMPG saw her providing business, legal, and regulatory advisement on nationally broadcast series, including Lucky Dog Reunions, Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom Protecting the Wild, Harlem Globetrotters: Play It Forward, Jack Hanna's Passport, and Mission Unstoppable with Miranda Cosgrove (among others). She also spearheaded the company's transition to industry-standard rights management software and led efforts to streamline rights and clearance processes for a vast content library spanning over 4,500 episodes of programming.

Whiteside has also worked on a range of high-profile projects, including recent projects such as:

  • Number One on the Call Sheet (2025) - Apple TV+'s two-part documentary film

  • Headliners Only (2023) - Kevin Hart & Chris Rock documentary

  • Something From Tiffany's (2022) - a Hello Sunshine production

  • Voir (2021) - A David Fincher Netflix documentary series

  • Short History of the Long Road (2019) - independent feature starring Sabrina Carpenter

Whiteside also remains actively involved in the entertainment law community, currently serving as Co-Chair of the Pro Bono Committee and Chair of the Nominations Committee for the Sports and Entertainment Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association, following her tenure as Section Chair.

With WAM Entertainment Law, Whiteside aims to redefine entertainment legal services - prioritizing storytelling, protecting intellectual property, and helping creators thrive in an ever-evolving industry.
