CACI was born in 1962, when two visionaries made an office of a park bench and telephone booth and used all their savings to take the trailblazing computer simulation language SIMSCRIPT to the masses. 60 years later, our almost 22,000 employees are still laser-focused on turning forward-thinking ideas into innovative technologies that help secure our nation and warfighters, and make our government more efficient. With technology in our DNA and a work culture defined by strong character, ethics, and integrity, CACI stands ever vigilant in meeting the challenges of our customers – today and tomorrow.

John Mengucci, CACI President and Chief Executive Officer, said, “CACI’s longevity is built upon the ingenuity and contributions of countless employees over the past 60 years. Our solid strategy, vision, culture, values, and talent have propelled us to continuously develop new technologies and provide expertise to help our customers advance their missions. I am deeply proud of our rich legacy and our people. We remain Ever Vigilant as a loyal partner standing with our customers to protect our country.”

CACI’s Entrepreneurial Spirit and History

CACI was founded by two visionaries, the late Herb Karr and Harry Markowitz, who began the company by leveraging SIMSCRIPT, a trailblazing computer simulation language that they helped to develop. In its early years, CACI developed simulation-based technologies for clients such as IBM and the U.S. Navy.

Over the years, many leaders have contributed to CACI’s success, including and most notably Dr. J.P. (Jack) London, a former President and CEO and Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board, who spent nearly 50 years with the company. Dr. London, who passed away in January 2021, grew CACI from a small professional services firm into a multi-billion-dollar powerhouse.

A Look Ahead

In its 60th year, as modern warfare looks more to bits and bytes and not solely to bombs and bullets, CACI remains at the forefront of delivering network and IT modernization; leveraging digital solutions and Agile-at-scale practices to modernize systems and applications; providing software defined electronic warfare (EW), signals intelligence (SIGINT), and counter-unmanned aircraft technologies (C-UAS); advancing groundbreaking space technology and photonics-based capabilities; deploying NSA-compliant Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) technology for secure communications; offering mission support; and much more.

These advancements in technology and expertise have resulted in CACI making great strides in winning expansive, more sustainable contracts, including the $1.88 billion Border Enforcement Applications for Government Leading Edge IT, or BEAGLE, contract award to support Customs and Border Protection; the $1.5 billion National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency contract to provide transport and cybersecurity services; the $1.4 Billion Defense Threat Reduction Agency task order to counter and deter a variety of threats; and several others.

“We have much to be proud of in looking back these past six decades, and I am even more confident in our future,” continued Mr. Mengucci. “Leveraging our strategy focused on long-term growth through high-value expertise and technology for our customers, we are poised to create the next generation of unique capabilities and lead the way for our customers, our nation, and our shareholders.”
