TigerConnect Announces Winners of The Second Annual “Nurses of the Heart of Healthcare” Contest

Recognizing nurses who showcase exceptional dedication and expertise in the healthcare industry.

TigerConnect, healthcare’s most trusted clinical collaboration platform, is pleased to announce the winners of the second annual “Nurses at the Heart of Healthcare” contest. This initiative is designed to honor and spotlight the nurses who have gone above and beyond in their field by demonstrating remarkable compassion, unwavering patience and steadfast integrity in safeguarding public health.

The contest, now in its second successful year, is part of efforts by TigerConnect to celebrate the American Nurses Association’s National Nurses Month and highlight nurses who exemplify the best of the nursing profession. These dedicated individuals embody the spirit of nursing, going above and beyond their duties to ensure the well-being of their patients, their families and the broader communities they serve.

This year’s winners were nominated by nursing leaders who witnessed firsthand the immense passion and continued dedication demonstrated by individuals on their teams. Grand prize winner, Charlene Armstrong, RN-TL, is a PACU nurse at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. Armstrong was nominated by Christie Jones, RN-BSN, a travel nurse who praised Armstrong’s purposeful delivery of outstanding patient care. With more than 20 years in nursing, Armstrong has served as a mentor for numerous nurses throughout her tenure in both the Neuro ICU and the PACU. “She has been such a great nurse that other nurses followed her to the PACU in order to continue to work with her,” said Jones.

In addition to the grand prize winner, several other exceptional nurses were recognized for their commitment to the nursing profession and their positive impact on patient experience: Gulnar Otchiyeva, RN, a staff nurse at Stratford Visiting Nurse Association, Diane McDonald, RN, a staff nurse at Iowa Digestive Disease Center, Caitlyn Becker, RN, a nursing supervisor at Myrtue Medical Center, and Susan Derrickson, MSN, RN, a rehab and dialysis nurse at Memorial Hospital of South Bend.

Will O’Connor, M.D., chief medical information officer at TigerConnect, commended this year’s winners and expressed his gratitude. “Nurses are the backbone of healthcare. The compassion and tireless efforts displayed by this year’s winners have been pivotal in enhancing the standard of care provided to patients in all care settings,” said O’Connor. “This contest serves as a small but significant gesture that acknowledges and rewards their invaluable contributions.”

TigerConnect extends emphatic congratulations to all of the winners of the “Nurses at the Heart of Healthcare” contest and expresses sincere appreciation to the entire nursing community for their leadership and unwavering commitment to improving patient care outcomes.
