University of Phoenix Announces Winners of Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States 2024 Future Phoenix Scholarship

Recipients from across the country will receive full-tuition scholarships

University of Phoenix and The Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States (EANGUS) are proud to announce the 2024 winners of full-tuition scholarships for a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree program for current enlisted National Guard servicemembers and their immediate family members. This year’s scholarship winners are Senior Airman (SrA) Isidro Garcia, Senior Airman (SrA) Hannah Heath and Tech Sergeant (TSgt) Marshall Robertson.

“It is an honor and a privilege to serve our veteran students and their families. The courage and dedication of those who serve our country inspire us daily, and we are eager to support them as they transition into the next phase of their lives,” shares Eric Ryan, senior director of Military Operations at University of Phoenix and Marine Corps veteran. “These scholarships are a meaningful part of our ongoing commitment to the military community, and we look forward to assisting these students in achieving their educational and career aspirations.”

Military members and families often encounter challenges of time, commitments, and circumstance to reaching their academic and career goals. The EANGUS Future Phoenix Scholarship is intended to recognize the military service commitment and provide an opportunity to further education goals for current enlisted National Guard servicemembers and their immediate family members.

Garcia is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology at University of Phoenix and expressed his gratitude for the award. “I am eager to continue my education at University of Phoenix and enhance my skills in emerging fields like cybersecurity,” he stated. “The program's online format fits well with my military and civilian commitments, and I plan to leverage the knowledge gained to continue serving my country and contribute to the New Mexico community.”

Heath plans to earn a master’s degree in education and administration, says she believes furthering her education is one of the greatest ways to make an impact and set a positive example for her community. “This degree will prepare me with critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills, giving me tools necessary to empower others and transform society,” she shares. “I hope to use this degree to optimize workforce performance while gaining firsthand experience implementing these skills and bettering the Air National Guard. After retirement from the military, I hope to continue using this degree to become a school administrator in my local community.”

EANGUS is the largest enlisted reserve component association with a mission to give a voice to the enlisted National Guard men and women, their families and retirees on Capitol Hill. University of Phoenix and EANGUS have teamed up since 2011, awarding dozens of scholarships to date, including full and partial tuition, to either current members or immediate family members of the military and EANGUS.

“The National Guard is made up of the most professional, capable, and competent Soldiers and Airmen in the world,” stated Jeff Frisby, EANGUS Executive Director. “Their ability to defend our country one day, provide for our communities the next, and be a valuable part of our communities every other day speaks to the character and resiliency of our National Guard heroes. Through our amazing partnership with the University of Phoenix, we open the door for our members to not just step into a new role of student, but to broaden the scope of their individual achievements through a degree. The University of Phoenix will be giving them the ability to magnify their warrior tested leadership, investing in themselves to be the best of America, both in and out of uniform.”

Robertson, who currently works as an accounting liaison in the Air National Guard, is pursuing a Master of Business Administration at University of Phoenix. “Completing my graduate degree is a priority because I want to continue building my skills in my chosen field,” he states. “I want to be able to thrive in my career, as well as reflect to my children and family that education is important.”

University of Phoenix is a certified Arizona Veteran Supportive Campus and remains connected to the military community, maintaining relationships with Military Professional Associations to help support those association members and University of Phoenix students.
