Indie film on LGBTQ issues, Say Grace, wins prestigious 2022 Telly Awards in 3 categories

“Say Grace” by Jay Beckett and 2nd Act Films makes a mark with the win of the Telly Academy Awards 2022 in 3 categories.

Hollywood, CA – June 14, 2022 – A new indie film on LGBTQ issues, “Say Grace”, has been acknowledged with the esteemed 2022 Telly Awards. Directed by rising indie filmmaker and actor Jay Beckett, the short film has won the award in as many as 3 categories, including Best Director (Jay Beckett), Best Short Film Writing, and Best Drama. “Say Grace” is poised to go to major film festivals next month. 

“Say Grace” has been produced  by 2nd Act Films, an indie film production company founded by Jay Beckett. 

One of the most revered national and international film competitions, the Telly Awards covers films from not just the USA but also from all over the world. The 2022 edition marks the 43rd edition of the elite film award show. The Telly Award 2022 received over 12,000 entries from all 50 states and 5 continents. 

“Say Grace” is a modern drama about Mark, a devout Christian and a single father of a teenage son. A doting dad, Mark loves his son dearly and wants him to grow up with strong Christian values. But the plot takes a new turn one morning when Mark finds a doll in his son’s backpack. His orthodox values bar him from accepting reality, sending him to frenzy, panic, and war with his son. The film proceeds to show how the same doll shows Mark the key to reunite with his beloved son.

One of the most loved names in the Hollywood indie scene, Jay Beckett is a highly talented American actor, filmmaker, and director. As an actor, he has starred in both films (short films mostly) and theater plays Some of his most notable projects include “Wonder Woman”, “A Little Tokyo Story”, “Have a Good Day”, and so on. In 2020, Jay signed up with the prestigious LA Film School for training in filmmaking and directing. Added to “Say Grace”, he has also made a min-documentary on Madame Laqueer, “Madame, The Life of a Drag Queen.”
