StoneBridge School’s Girls Varsity Volleyball team celebrated a historic 38-0 season, winning the Division II State Championship with a 101-3 set record. The Cavaliers earned six titles and were formally commended by U.S. Sen. Mark Warner for excellence and leadership.
-- CHESAPEAKE, Va. – March 2026 – The StoneBridge School (SBS) Girls Varsity Volleyball team completed a historic 38-0 undefeated season en route to winning the Division II State Championship, cementing one of the most dominant campaigns in program history.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Eric Plumlee and Assistant Coach Christie Wooten, the Cavaliers captured six titles and amassed an incredible 101-3 set record against opponents throughout the season. Despite entering only their second year in Division II with a young roster, the team displayed remarkable resilience, unity, and performance from start to finish.
The success of the season was widely recognized beyond the court. U.S. Sen. Mark Warner formally commended the team and coaching staff for their historic achievement, noting their discipline, teamwork, and exemplary representation of excellence in athletics.
“This achievement is indicative of your tenacity and never-ending will to succeed, no matter the circumstances,” Sen. Warner wrote. “Virginia is fortunate to have young people who demonstrate such a strong dedication to excellence.”
SBS emphasized that the championship run was the result of years of intentional program building focused on character, confidence, cohesion, and competition and the pursuit of excellence. The team’s accomplishments were amplified by numerous individual honors, including state and Metro Players of the Year, All-State selections, and Coach of the Year accolades.
“The goal was never simply to win, but to compete faithfully before an Audience of One. To prepare, practice, and play with the understanding that the Lord Himself takes pleasure in wholehearted effort offered in faith,” Coach Plumlee said in reflecting on the Cavaliers’ season and the program’s success.
The undefeated season and state championship mark a milestone for StoneBridge athletics, highlighting the impact of strong leadership and the team’s uncompromising pursuit of excellence. The school community joins in celebrating this extraordinary achievement and the team’s state-wide recognition.
