Las Vegas First-Generation Student Success: 2026 Senior Celebration Announced

Leaders in Training (LIT) has announced its 2026 Senior Celebration, a Las Vegas event honoring first-generation graduates and raising community support for the next generation of student leaders across Southern Nevada.

-- Leaders in Training (LIT), a verified 501(c)(3) public charity based in East Las Vegas, has announced its 2026 Senior Celebration, scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. PDT. The event will honor first-generation graduating seniors who have completed four years of LIT's cohort-based leadership program, while also serving as a fundraising opportunity for donors, sponsors, and community partners invested in student success across Southern Nevada.

This year's theme, "Keeping the Flame LIT: Celebrating Leaders and Sustaining the Future," frames the evening as both a milestone and a mission. The event honors seniors who have completed four full years in LIT's cohort-based program, which centers on leadership development, college and career preparation, community service, and identity-building — a process the organization says represents four years of steady progress shaped by discipline, mentorship, and structured support.

That approach is reflected in LIT's no-GPA-barrier entry policy, which allows students to join as high school freshmen regardless of academic standing. According to the organization, removing that initial requirement creates space for students to develop over time rather than be defined by where they start. Over four years, participants build academic confidence, strengthen community ties, and gain clearer direction for life after graduation, LIT says.

A representative for Leaders in Training emphasized that the meaning of the celebration extends far beyond the ceremony itself. "This celebration is a direct reflection of what sustained community investment produces. These students did not arrive with advantages handed to them. They built their futures one year at a time, and this evening belongs to them and to everyone who believed in them."

While the evening centers on graduating seniors, it also recognizes the donors, corporate sponsors, education partners, and nonprofit allies whose contributions support LIT's year-round work. Sponsorship packages and donation opportunities are available for community stakeholders looking to invest directly in LIT's programs, which span college readiness, family engagement, and long-term student support.

LIT reports a 100% college acceptance rate among program completers and an 88% postsecondary persistence rate, figures the organization says reflect the long-term impact of consistent, structured support that extends beyond high school graduation.

Tickets, sponsorships, and donations are now open.

Leaders in Training is a verified 501(c)(3) public charity based in East Las Vegas. Its mission is to empower first-generation students to become capable, confident leaders who strengthen their communities from within, uplift their families, and redefine leadership across Southern Nevada.
