Notable LGBT Attorney, Scott McCoy, Donates to the LGBT Asylum Project

By: Zexprwire

Denver, CO, 23rd August 2022, ZEXPRWIREScott McCoy, General Counsel and Managing Partner of Cold Springs Partners, has donated to the LGBT Asylum Project. The Project provides pro bono legal representation to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer individuals seeking asylum in the United States.

“I am proud to support the LGBT Asylum Project,” said McCoy. “As a gay person, I know firsthand the discrimination and violence that many LGBT people face around the world. I hope my donation will help those who are seeking safety in the United States.”

The LGBT Asylum Project is one of the only organizations in the country that provides free legal representation to LGBT asylum seekers. Since its founding in 2011, the Project has helped over 1,000 individuals from more than 60 countries obtain asylum in the United States.

The project is just one of the many ways that Scott gives back to the LGBT community. “I have always been an active supporter of various LGBT organizations,” said Scott. “I am proud to be able to help those who are fleeing violence and persecution.”

Apart from that, he has been involved in politics since college, working for gay rights causes. He has at times lobbied the Texas, Virginia, and Colorado state legislatures on those issues from the 1990s through today.

According to Scott, it is very important for everyone, not just LGBT people, to support the LGBT Asylum Project. “The United States has always been a beacon of hope for those fleeing violence and persecution,” said Scott. “We must continue to be that beacon by providing safety and opportunity for all.”

Scott encourages everyone to learn more about the LGBT Asylum Project and to consider making a donation. “The work that the Project does is so important,” said Scott. “I am proud to support their efforts.” For him, The LGBT Asylum Project is also very personal. “No one should have to live in fear because of who they are.”

At present, Scott uses his platform and voice to continue his support for various LGBT organizations including his volunteer and hobby work as an organizer and DJ of several LGBT-focused music and art events. “I am delighted to be able to contribute to the LGBT community through my talents. I’d like to encourage others to find ways to use their talents to support the community as well.”
