At the conference, our General Manager, Andrew Winkler, proudly accepted the award on behalf of Chief Carriers. Winkler’s leadership underscores the company’s commitment to ensuring that safety is the driving force behind all its operations. Chief Carriers doesn’t just aim to be a leader in the trucking industry; it leads with a steadfast focus on safety and excellence.

This recognition from the NTA serves as a powerful reminder of the collective dedication of everyone at Chief Carriers to fostering a culture of safety day in and day out. In our commitment to recognizing excellence, Don Wilkes was honored as the October Nebraska Trucking Association Driver of the Month. With an impressive 17 years of commercial driving experience, including 6 dedicated years with Chief Carriers, Don’s odometer tells a tale of dedication, clocking in at an astounding 1.8 million miles!

But Don’s commitment goes beyond mileage; it shines brightly in the realm of safety. Not only is he accident-free, but he’s also a proud recipient of the Driver of the Year award and a key participant in our Safety360 program. Don’s excellence on and off the road sets a remarkable example of professionalism and safety.

Chief Carriers has a longstanding tradition of taking exceptional care of its drivers. For us, driving for Chief means more than just a paycheck. It means providing our drivers with outstanding equipment, maintenance, and safety programs, all aimed at ensuring that our drivers return home to their families safe and sound.

Recently, Chief Carriers completed the construction of a 6,000-square-foot, two-bay securement building in Grand Island, Nebraska. This facility serves as a training center for student drivers and those in orientation. It represents a significant investment in improving the quality of life and safety for our drivers by providing an indoor space for training and tie-down procedures, shielding them from the elements.

General Manager Winkler reiterates, “Safety remains our number one priority,” a sentiment that resonates throughout Chief Carriers.”
