Putin’s health conditions could end the war. Permanently

According to Proekt, a Russian investigative news source, Putin has been meeting more physicians in recent years, raising serious concerns regarding his health status. According to the magazine, Putin’s entourage comprises nine doctors, up from five in 2016/2017 and six in 2018.

Evgeny Selivanov (an oncologist-surgeon) was Putin’s most frequent doctor. The article states that the doctor spent 166 days with Putin between 2016 and 2020 and met with Putin 35 times.

As one of the world’s most powerful people, Putin is often in the spotlight, both for his actions and his rumored personal life. But while we know a fair amount about his life and career, we know little about Putin’s health. Even before Proekt’article, some other magazines suggested that Putin has a serious health problem — and it doesn’t appear to be anything that a good night’s sleep and a healthy diet can fix. Unconfirmed rumors suggest that Putin has thyroid cancer or Parkinson’s disease. His repeated visits to the doctor and treatment for alleged illnesses have fueled the rumors.

Proekt suggests that Putin might have received treatment for his thyroid disease when he was self-isolated in September and left alone for 16 days. In addition, the journal claims that Vladimir Putin has taken a new approach to his health issues. According to the news site, Putin is known to bathe in deer antler extract that has been cooked in water.

Proekt claimed that Putin is interested in “prolonging youth” through this and other alternative medicine. Vladimir Putin will turn 70 on October 7, 2022.

Putin and the Russian economy

After the U.S., European Union, and the U.K. issued the first sanctions against Russia in response to their war on Ukraine, the Russian ruble fell 30%. This plunge, which saw the ruble’s value drop to less than 1 cent in March, prompted President Biden to call the currency “rubble” last month.

Oil stocks have instead benefited from the conflict. Devon Energy Corp (NYSE: DVN) has gained 58.10% in the last six months, and Occidental Petroleum Corporation (NYSE: OXY) in the same period.
