Avangrid Deploys Resources From New York and Connecticut to Assist Central Maine Power in Restoration Efforts Following Historic Storm

60 lineworkers, mobile command center from Avangrid subsidiaries, New York State Electric & Gas and United Illuminating, arrive in Maine

Crews will join hundreds of Central Maine Power crews already at work to restore the remaining 250,000 impacted customers

Avangrid, Inc. (NYSE: AGR), a leading sustainable energy company and member of the Iberdrola Group, announced today it will deploy lineworkers and a specialized mobile command center to Maine to assist its subsidiary, Central Maine Power (CMP) in restoration efforts after a powerful windstorm knocked out power to more than 400,000 customers earlier this week.

“Responding to emergencies is one of the most important ways to support our customers and communities during severe weather,” said Pedro Azagra, Avangrid CEO. “With our assets of personnel and equipment across several states, our emergency operations staff is able to quickly deploy resources when the need arises to bolster our collective response efforts and work to restore power to communities. I thank the men and women from our companies for their commitment. They are working tirelessly during this critical time to help our communities in need.”

The 60 lineworkers and the mobile command center are deployed from Avangrid’s subsidiaries New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) in New York and United Illuminating (UI) in Connecticut. Both NYSEG and UI were also impacted by the recent storm but have already restored power to their customers. The additional crews and equipment will join hundreds of crews in Maine who have been working around the clock in severe conditions, battling damaged trees, broken poles, washed out roads, and area flooding, while working to restore power to the remaining 250,000 customer affected by the storm.

This effort is part of Avangrid’s multi-state network of resources to assist its hardest hit service areas to bolster response efforts. The company deployed similar assistance of personnel and equipment during Hurricane Lee and the Christmas winter storm of 2023.
