Former San Diego Padres Pitcher Damond Muhammad Teaches Students How to Overcome Setbacks

By: Get News

Dallas, Texas - Starting high school and college can be a daunting struggle for students as they learn to differentiate themselves from their reality, but the experience does not have to be painful. Motivational Speaker and ASANA DISTRIBUTION CEO Damond Muhammad’s lectures bridge the gaps and answer questions for the teenage and collegiate mind with humor and honesty. His next speaking tour will be announced this summer.

“My speaking specialty and expertise will be focused on the “nerds” of the world,” Muhammad says. “Nerds have a special place in the world, and they are extraordinarily valuable members of our society. Often, these individuals are the great innovators, entrepreneurs, medical professionals, legal professionals, engineers, elite executives, educators, and thought-leaders who change our world for the better.”

Muhammad draws from personal experience as he engages with students from Junior High, High School, and College. Today, he has accumulated a net worth of $8 million; however, that was not always the case for him. In his lectures, Muhammad talks about how he overcame the effects of racism, political and religious discrimination, and a tough upbringing to become a successful adult.

In 1995, Muhammad had high hopes for a professional baseball career with the San Diego Padres until his career was cut short due to his affiliation with the “Nation of Islam.”

“During those days, athletes who accepted or identified with Islam were crucified,” Muhammad said. “We saw what happened to Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, we saw what happened to Craig Hodges, I was no different.” The San Diego Padres decided that I did not fit-in with the ideals of the organization so they released me, for the next year, no team would talk to me. There I was, BLACKBALLED, it was a painful experience, but I learned from it.”

Muhammad charted a new path for himself and kept moving forward despite it all. Eventually, he became a high school track and football coach in Phoenix Arizona. Prior to that, he was a college football coach at Mesa Community College. As the head of ASANA Distribution, Muhammad leads a close-knit team of professionals who create Custom Bottled Water services for professional sports teams, universities, and High Schools.

Mr. Muhammad loves to travel foreign and domestically when he is not on the lecture circuit. Among his favorite places to visit are Hawaii, Cancun, Dominican Republic, Vienna Austria, and Prague. Muhammad states that he is looking forward to visiting Nigeria, Tanzania, and Ethiopia in summer 2023. He is a proud father of three, and his hobbies include hiking, camping, fishing, and reading. In addition, Muhammad values family and friendships with the individuals who coached and mentored him.
